πŸ₯± pardon my yawn

Hey Reader,

If you're in the USA, Happy 4th of July! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

For everyone else, I hope you have a great rest of your week!

This Week's Feature ↓

I'm tired. And no, coffee can't help.

πŸ‘€ "Look! A new marketing strategy to help boost your SEO."

πŸ™…πŸ»β€β™€οΈ "That strategy you worked on last year? Yeah, it doesn't work anymore."

πŸ€– "AI is going to take your job."

πŸŽ₯ "Are you sharing videos? Because that's the only way to grow."

Being a digital marketer can be exhausting.

Since 2011, I've been involved in social media, paid ads, SEO, and every other marketing platform in my full-time position.

In 2013, I started providing freelance for small businesses as a side hustle.

2015, I started an Instagram account with over 86,000 followers, which I later sold in early 2024.

In 2022, I started my newsletter and started sharing more content (which you're reading now!).

It's been over 13 years of creating content...

And I'm Tired.

Every week for over 2 years, I've scheduled content around sharing Google Ad strategies, small business marketing tips, the importance of video sharing, using SMS for audience marketing, and many other strategies.

Digital detox sounds like a fantasy, but it is necessary.

*grabs coffee*

But the show must go on!

3 Tips To Prevent Total Digital Exhaustion

If you're like me, a goal-driven person, it's important (and essential) to continue to build an audience without completely going dark online.

How do I keep going? There are 3 things I always do to ensure I don't burn out:

#1: Take Back Control

We've all been there: the urge to delete all socials and turn the phone to DND all the time. Instead, take back control.

  • Check my notifications: I will turn off social notifications on my phone for a few weeks. This helps me see what apps I open naturally when I want, without the temptation of clicking one of those banners.
  • Group apps in a folder: I rearrange the home screen on my phone to put all my social (or other) apps into a folder so they are not staring at me. Sometimes, I even use the handy iPhone option of "remove from the home screen" so the app is "hidden" on my screen completely.
  • I don't answer: If someone comments or DMs me when taking a break, I will not answer when I see it. This is especially true if it's a cold outreach or a new connection.

It's no secret that social media and digital content can create mental instability and also cause imposter syndrome - it's important to take back control by setting boundaries to prevent burnout.

#2: Focus Your Efforts

Constantly producing content online can be monotonous and can lead to burnout. To prevent that, scale down your distribution to the places that matter most.

What platforms are moving the needle the most? Maybe your videos on Instagram? Maybe your newsletter?

Also, consider which platform will be the most important to your growth in 1, 5, or 10 years after taking a hiatus. Pick the best long-term platform to focus on.

Focusing on the right place, like a newsletter, can help reduce mindless time spent on scrolling platforms like 𝕏 or TikTok.

#3: Find A New Hobby

Reading articles and newsletters and engaging on socials can be tiring.

Disengaging from the marketing scene has helped me in the past.

β€œ
Recently, I built and started a garden. Also, I've been training for a half marathon.

These hobbies allow you to enjoy things away from work.

It stimulates your mind in new ways - perhaps even sparks new ideas!

So, when you return to content creation, you'll feel energized and refreshed.

It's important to listen to your mind & BOdy

The human body is a powerful force. Stay in tune with it to ensure you don't burn out.

Hit 'reply" and tell me your process, and maybe I'll share it next week!
